General: J.E.Dunn Construction 929 Holmes Kansas City, MO 64106-2682
Description: The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, constructed in Kansas City, MO utilized a unique design that used tensioned cables to support the glass ceiling and walls of the atrium of the structure. The cables are highly tensioned and place an uplift force on the anchor wall. The Judy Company was contracted by JE Dunn Company to furnish and install rock anchors that would support the wall laterally and provide hold down forces vertically for the structure. The anchors were drilled into the limestone and shale bedrock. The anchors were stressed against the rock and then were extended into the footing. The 50 foot tall wall also required tie-backs to resist the overturning loads.
