THE COMPANY
The
Judy Company was founded in 1922 by Philip S. Judy, a young
and prominent geologist in the midwest. It was originally known as the Air Made Well
Company. Mr. Judy specialized in foundation investigations, water well construction and
ground water supplies for municipalities and industry. He was an early pioneer of
foundation consolidation by pressure grouting.
In the late
1920's, he performed the foundation work for
Bagnell Dam, which forms Lake of the Ozarks. In the 1930's, 1940's and 1950's, he
developed equipment and procedures for foundation grouting, and performed the foundation
work on many of the dams and river structures that were constructed in that period. Many
of the procedures and much of the equipment that he developed are still specified and
utilized today.
In 1963,
the company was purchased by Hugh Carr and was Incorporated as the Judy Company, Inc. in
1966.The Judy Company turned primarily to the foundation consolidation of new dams in the
1960's and 1970's. Remedial work was also performed on older structures.
In the 1980's,
as the need developed for remedial foundation work, The Judy Company
responded by creating a specialty remedial division.
SERVICES
Within a related
construction-engineering field, The Judy Company installs tie backs and rock anchors to
enhance facility utilization. From grouting operations, The Judy Company developed a low
cost slurry to be utilized in structural fills. A number of projects have been completed
in the Kansas City area, as well as, other geographical areas.
For use
in its grouting projects, The Judy Company has developed "Cell-A-Fill," a
by-product of western coal, as well as application procedures and pumping environmental
requirements of their Clients. These projects include simple trench and foundation back
fills, 100 yards or less to 10,000 yards or more, and other applications such as
consolidation protective measures for sanitary and hazardous waste projects.

2600 cubic yards of two component quick-set grout consisting of sodium silicate and
cement.
